Copyright reform NOW – Tell MPs to take action
Together, we can make a difference, so creators and their business partners get paid.
In a cost-of-living crisis, it is more crucial than ever for our creators and cultural businesses to get paid for the use of their work. That’s why we need your help to urge the government to update the Copyright Act in the Fall Economic Statement.
Why this is crucial
Copyright ensures that rights-holders receive a fair share of the revenues generated by their works. Unfortunately, the current framework has serious gaps. By fixing the Act we can ensure remuneration for our creators at no cost to the government.
Our urgent demands
- A resale right for visual artists so they benefit financially from the resale of their works.
- Fair compensation for writers and book publishers for use of their works in education.
- Technological neutrality for private copying to restore royalties for recording artists, composers, songwriters, music publishers, and labels.
- Modification of the definition of sound recording so that performers and labels are compensated for audiovisual uses of their works.
