For the third consecutive year, the Coalition for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (CDCE) and its members will be in Ottawa to advance the Canadian cultural sector’s priorities ahead of the 2026 budget. As part of this initiative, a reception under the theme Cultural Sovereignties Under Pressure will take place on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. A series of meetings with key public decision-makers will also take place during the week.

The CDCE brings together the collective voice of Canada’s cultural sector while respecting the diverse realities and perspectives of its members. Drawing on the 2005 UNESCO Convention, it works to influence the development of structural policies that help protect and strengthen cultural sovereignty. The CDCE is composed of more than 50 English- and French-speaking professional cultural organizations across Canada, collectively representing the interests of more than 350,000 creators and cultural professionals and 3,000 businesses in the book, film, television, new media, music, performing arts and visual arts sectors.

The CDCE wishes to thank Mr. Martin Champoux, Bloc Québécois Member of Parliament for Drummond, Quebec, and Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage, for sponsoring this reception.
