PROGRAM
As Canada faces a pivotal moment politically, economically, and technologically, the 2025 federal election will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the country’s cultural sector. Decisions made by the next government will have a lasting impact on the diversity, vitality, and sustainability of Canada’s cultural ecosystem.
What concrete measures are the political parties proposing to ensure a strong future for culture in Canada?
The discussion, framed around the theme of cultural sovereignty, will focus on four key areas:
• Public funding and the socio-economic conditions of artists
• The Broadcasting Act and the future of CBC/Radio-Canada
• Copyright
• The impact of artificial intelligence on culture
A 15-minute Q&A session will be held at the end of the event. Members of the public are invited to send their questions for the candidates in advance to coalition@cdec-cdce.org. A selection will be made based on the time available.
