Following the recent cabinet shuffle in Quebec, the Coalition for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (CDCE) welcomes the reappointment of Mr. Mathieu Lacombe as Quebec’s Minister of Culture and Communications.

Since taking office in October 2022, Mr. Lacombe has shown strong leadership in implementing UNESCO’s 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. Both in Quebec and on the international stage, he has stood out for his commitment to ensuring its effectiveness in the digital environment.

The CDCE is pleased with the continuity this reappointment provides, particularly regarding ongoing work related to the addition of a protocol to the Convention. The Coalition also looks forward with confidence to continuing its collaboration with the Minister in the lead-up to major international events, including the World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development – Mondiacult 2025, which will take place in Barcelona (Spain), from September 29 to October 1, 2025.

Finally, the CDCE congratulates Mr. Christopher Skeete on his appointment as Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie, a key position for enhancing Quebec’s visibility within international organizations and forums. The Coalition is enthusiastic about the prospect of working with the Minister.
