The July report focuses on cultural governance and regulation issues toward online platforms. Firstly, it deals with the ongoing discussions taking place in Canada on the broadcasting legislation; secondly, it analyzes the audiovisual media reform in Australia and the different viewpoints provided by the actors involved. Thirdly, the report focuses onthe new developments regarding the governance of online platforms and culture in Europe. Finally, it analyzes South Africa’s new proposal for establishing a local content quota on streaming services and it emphasizes competition issues toward global tech companies in the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US).
