Temporary, full-time position (maternity leave replacement).

Founded in 1998, the Coalition for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (CDCE) is a pan-Canadian organization that brings together 43 associations representing the entire cultural chain, from creation to dissemination, in the book, film, television, new media, music and performing arts sectors. Concerned as much about the economic health of cultural industries as about the vitality of cultural creation, the group is particularly interested in the treatment of culture in trade agreements and in the impact of the digital environment on the diversity of cultural expressions. The CDCE also coordinates the International Federation of Coalitions for Cultural Diversity (IFCCD).

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Research and Communications Officer’s primary mandate is to:

  • Monitor national and international news on the CDCE’s priority issues;
  • Design, write, format and distribute the CDCE’s communications materials (visuals, flyers, videos, etc.);
  • Develop and maintain the presence of the CDCE and the IFCCD on social media;
  • Produce and distribute the CDCE and IFCCD newsletters;
  • Administer the CDCE and IFCCD websites;
  • Support the organization of conferences and seminars, including logistical aspects;
  • Contribute to the research and writing of studies and reports produced by the Coalition;
  • Write minutes;
  • Follow-up on certain projects;
  • Maintain relationships with partners;
  • Edit and translate documents.

Depending on availability, other tasks related to the Coalition’s mission may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in communications, political science, international law or other related discipline;
  • Knowledge of the following tools: MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), WordPress, Adobe Creative (Indesign, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro), social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter);
  • Knowledge of social media strategies;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience;
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English (Spanish is an asset);
  • Knowledge of the cultural sector;
  • Knowledge of UNESCO and the Convention for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions is an asset.
