The Coalition for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (CDCE) congratulates Marc Miller on his appointment as Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister Responsible for Official Languages. The CDCE looks forward to a collaboration that will help ensure continuity, stability, and vitality in Canada’s cultural policies.

Representing more than 350,000 creators and over 3,000 Francophone and Anglophone cultural enterprises across the country, the CDCE notes that expectations within the cultural sector are high. Protecting the cultural exemption in the upcoming CUSMA review, regulating generative artificial intelligence, safeguarding copyright, and fully implementing the Online Streaming Act are among the priorities of CDCE members.

The CDCE also congratulates Joël Lightbound on his appointment as Quebec Lieutenant.

Finally, the CDCE extends its thanks to Steven Guilbeault for his commitment to Canadian culture and acknowledges the significant work he accomplished in service of the cultural community. Minister Guilbeault contributed to major advances: modernization of the Broadcasting Act, funding for the audiovisual and music sectors, and meaningful progress on the artists’ resale right for visual artists.
