2024 marks the hundredth anniversary of the coming into force of the Copyright Act. To celebrate this anniversary, ALAI Canada with the collaboration of the CDCE is bringing together experts in the field to express their views on the evolution of copyright law and, more importantly, on the challenges the future brings. While the challenges of the past have not yet been fully met, Canadian copyright law must now confront artificial intelligence in a world where inspiration can be drawn from everywhere. The conference aims to provide an overview of current issues, bringing stakeholders together to discuss and reflect on the future.
The symposium will be in English and French. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided throughout the conference.
This collaboration is made possible thanks to the financial support of CDCE members: Access Copyright, Association des réalisateurs et réalisatrices du Québec (ARRQ), Canadian Artists Representation (CARFAC), Copibec, Canadian Private Copying Collective (CPCC), Music Publishers Canada (MPC), Regroupement des artistes en arts visuels du Québec (RAAV), Société des auteurs et compositeurs dramatiques (SACD), Société Civile des Auteurs Multimédia (SCAM), Société canadienne des auteurs, compositeurs et éditeurs de musique (SOCAN).
We would also like to thank the French Embassy in Canada, sponsor of the final panel of the day: A conversation between foreign experts.
