John Degen, Vice-President of the Coalition for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (CDCE) and Executive Director of The Writers’ Union of Canada, and Marie‑Julie Desrochers, Executive Director of the CDCE, appeared before the Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications (TRCM) as part of the study on the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence (AI) in the information and communication technology sector

They notably reiterated the key priorities shared by CDCE members, summarized by the acronym ART: Authorization, Remuneration, and Transparency.

Margaret McGuffin, Chief Executive Officer of Music Publishers Canada and a CDCE member, also appeared before the Committee yesterday. Several other CDCE members had previously been heard by the Committee, including SOCAN, ADISQ, and ACP.
