The Coalition for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (CDCE) participated in the pre-budget consultation process launched by the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance in Advance of the 2026 Budget. In its submission, the CDCE puts forward six recommendations organized around four key themes:

  • Direct support for creators and cultural industries
  • The protection of culture in trade agreements, particularly in the context of the review of Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement
  • The inclusion of the ART principles — Authorization, Remuneration and Transparency — in the development of a legislative framework for generative AI
  • Long-standing copyright commitments for the cultural sector that would come at no cost to the government
